INJUDICIOUS RIDE COSTS FYNBOS THE FEATURE EVENT
BANGALORE – 1ST JUNE
By TURF TRACKER
The much-anticipated Benaka Developer’s Bangalore Juvenile Million ended in disappointment for the connections and backers of Fynbos, as an injudicious ride by Trevor Patel cost her a prime chance at victory. Despite being ideally poised, Trevor failed to capitalize on the filly’s position and instead guided her into a pocket at the top of the straight, effectively sealing her fate. Fynbos, brimming with promise, was denied a clear run when it mattered most yet finished on well to topple Big Bay for the runner up berth in the end
That said, full credit must go to Sovereign King, who demolished the field with a commanding six-length victory. The son of Top Class placed slightly better on the scales as per terms of the event was simply in a league of his own, stamping himself as a top contender for the Colts Championship Stakes. With this authoritative performance, he is likely to spearhead the colts' brigade this season.
Another classic hopeful, Prokofiev, flattered to deceive. The colt turned in a lackluster performance and was found to be 29 kilos under his last published body weight. That significant drop might explain his below-par effort, and it remains to be seen if he can bounce back in time for the summer classics.
Among the undercard, Rosario caught the eye with a sparkling maiden win, clocking a smart time and showing an excellent turn of foot. The son of Western Aristocrat now enters the classic conversation, potentially shaping up as another strong contender for the Colts Championship.
Despite the setback, Fynbos loses little in defeat. Her ability is unquestionable, and with a clearer run, she remains a leading prospect for the upcoming Fillies Championship Stakes.
